Desolation And Water

I started Desolation And Water on tumblr back in May of 2024 (last year) to accomodate my need for a space dedicated to a certain...unnambale aesthetic and mood/feeling I was in, or that was being triggerd by certain things. Specifically certain music and imagery.

The mood in question is gloomy, dreary and dull, ocasionally nihilistic and arguably agorophobic/thalassaphobic. But not hopeless. It features a lot of rain, ocean imagery, fog, and dull colors. The whole thing was heavily inspired by certain parts of Syfy's Being Human, and Netflix's Bloodline.

The aesthetic leans into the "hipster" indie music aesthetics of tumblr in the early 2010s (around 2013/14).

This general mood is also a big part of my fiction story linked in the sidebar of this page.

Themes entertained withing Desole contain existential dread, belief in a higher power, and stuff I personally idenitified with or found proufound or relevant. This includes an Alan Watts quote I felt tied in well with my experience with OCD.
